The Tamil Nadu government has decided to withdraw Hindi as an optional language at the International Tamil Research Centre in Chennai. The decision comes in the wake of pressure being mounted by DMK and other opposition parties which accused Tamil culture minister K Pandiarajan of giving Hindi more importance. Soon after the news was out that Hindi had been replaced by Telugu, DMK president M K Stalin dubbed it “a victory” for his party.
