Maintenance of monuments in archaeologically rich Tamil Nadu is set to get better. Archaeological Survey of India’s (ASI) Chennai Circle, the largest in the country, is to be bifurcated with a second circle to be established in Trichy. Division of the circle, home to 411 monuments and heritage sites, will ensure additional funds and staff for the new circle.
