While Sujith Wilson’s death deep down a borewell near Trichy has hogged the limelight, several thousand borewells illegally dug right on platforms, roads and public spaces have gone unnoticed at several crowded localities in Chennai. Worse, neither the Chennai district collector nor the Greater Chennai Corporation has any data on the platform and on-the-road borewells found in residential areas such as George Twon, Washermenpet, Villivakkam, Choolaimedu, Saidapet and Triplicane.
