TN: ‘Raze 3,000 encroached places of worship’

Seeking to reopen the debate over encroached places of worship built on platforms and public spaces, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) has moved the Madras high court for their immediate removal. Noting that there were 3,168 temples, churches, mosques and other places of worship, a PIL by TPDK said a direction should be issued to the government to remove them at once, as they had been put up encroaching public streets, parks, OSR lands, water bodies, platforms and government offices.
