The Madras high court refused to stall construction of a parking area and amenities centre planned by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) in Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar park, but has directed the state to ensure that the CMRL plants 5,200 trees in the area, as per an undertaking, to make up for the loss of green cover due to the facility.
