As the daily case count in TN continued to rise for the second consecutive day with 1,947 new cases being recorded on Friday compared to 1,859 on Thursday, Chennai corporation announced closure of markets and shops at nine locations in the city for 10 days from July 31. The areas covered include Ranganathan Street, Kothwal Chavadi, North Usman Road till Mambalam Rail Road and Doveton Junction to Brooklyn Road in Purasawalkam.
