TN plastic ban: Heavy penalty to be imposed

The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday introduced a bill in the state legislature, amending the municipal laws to fix penalty for violation of ban on some plastic products. The penalty will range between Rs 25,000 and Rs 1 lakh. If a person commits the offence for the fourth time, the trade licence issued by the local bodies will be cancelled.
