Quake hits Bay of Bengal, tremors felt in Chennai

An earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude on the Richter scale hit the Bay of Bengal region around 7.02am, according to Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System monitored by INCOIS, Hyderabad. But no tsunami threat exists to India.
