M K Stalin, J Jayalalithaa dominate local polls

It is not just bad roads or drinking water that is grabbing the attention of voters this time. The high-decibel local body election campaign for the first phase in nine districts that ended on Monday saw the ruling DMK and the AIADMK slug it out, taking the names of chief minister M K Stalin and late chief minister J Jayalalithaa. Barring a video clip where he is seen seeking votes, Stalin has not visited the districts but directed his ministers, MLAs and MPs to do the talking in the rural pockets.
