TN: Burevi sends a chill through ghost town

Cyclone Burevi, which brought heavy spells over south and delta regions of the state while turning into a deep depression has weakened further into a depression on Friday evening even as it remained stationary around 40km from Ramanathapuram the whole of Friday. The cloud bands from the weakened system, which is scattered over the state, is likely to cause more rain over the western and northern districts on Saturday before the system moves towards south Kerala in the evening. The widespread rainfall over the state due to the cyclone and its remnants has brought down state’s rain deficit for the season starting October 1 from 15% to 2% on Friday.
