Ex-race club staff found guilty of tax fraud

After 35 years of trial, a city court sentenced a chartered accountant and a former staff with the Madras Race Club to four years of rigorous imprisonment for conspiring to cheat the government exchequer by filing false income tax return claims in the name of jackpot winners at the races by forging their signatures and creating bogus firms in their names.
