With the number of Covid-19 cases in Thanjavur district crossing 10,000, cases are now emerging among Mgnrega (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) scheme workers in the district. Health department officials say many of the workers have hardly been adhering to safety norms as they avoid getting tested fearing loss of jobs and quarantine.
