The Tamil Nadu police have booked cases against at least 33,510 people for violating lockdown norms from March 24 to 9am on March 31 and levied fines totalling 13,99 lakh. Police slapped cases under IPC sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and further investigations are on.
