Ration shops open, says govt; locals find them shut

The ration shop at Periyapanicherry in Chennai’s western suburbs has been distributing household items to card holders, says the government. In reality, the shop has been shut for almost a week. Currently, more than six crore people benefit from 33,000 ration shops across the state.
