505 ancient gold coins unearthed in Trichy

A treasure trove of 505 gold coins weighing 1,716 grams surfaced when workers were digging the ground at the Akilandeswari Jambukeswarar temple at Thiruvanaikaval in Trichy on Wednesday. Temple officials said the coins, which had letters resembling Arabic etched on them, could date back to 1000-1200CE.
