Gaur rescued from pond in Coonoor

Personnel of the forest department on Friday rescued an Indian bison from a pond near the Coonoor town. Locals, who found the gaur and a dead calf in the pond on a private land along the Ubbathalai to Sogathorai Road, had informed the department. "The animal could not come out of the pond as it was over 10f deep," an official involved in the rescue operation told TOI.
