TN gem cutters cheerful over import duty hike

The increase in duty on imported artificial gemstones from 7.5% to 15% has come as a saviour for traditional gem cutters here. As the gem cutting and polishing industry was affected by aggressive pricing of Chinese gemstones, the move is expected to promote local production.
