No plan to bifurcate Tamil Nadu, says Centre

In what could put an end to the contentious debate on formation of ‘Kongu Nadu’ by carving out the western region of Tamil Nadu as a separate state, the BJP government at the Centre on Tuesday stated that there was no plan to bifurcate any state in the country, including Tamil Nadu. The assertion comes close on the heels of strong opposition from several sections in the state and the BJP state unit too emphasising that it was for a “unified Tamil Nadu.”
