Falling rupee makes outbound packages costlier, fails to draw foreigners to Tamil Nadu

The falling Indian rupee, which on Thursday plunged to its lowest value in eight months, has made overseas tours costlier, forcing many from the city to put off international trips. While on paper the appreciating US dollar has made tour packages for foreigners attractive, on the ground the number of inbound tourist bookings to Tamil Nadu for September dropped by more than 50%.
